The Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau is located at 235 Main Street in Half Moon Bay California. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. Charise Hale McHugh, ACE, President/CO

Before coming to the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau in 1996, Charise owned an advertising business, Promotions With Pizzazz, in San Francisco. She has been instrumental in increasing the Chamber membership from 330 to 700 and tripling its budget. Charise was a founder of the Coastside Shuttle transit system and founded the Half Moon Bay Hotel Business Improvement District (BID) in 2004.

Charise has also founded the first broad-based Ecotourism Program in the state of California on the Half Moon Bay California coast and is spearheading state recognition of ecotourism as a tourism destination. And, currently she is facilitating a non-profit component to the Disaster Preparedness Plan for the Half Moon Bay and San Mateo County coast.

Charise received the William E. Hammond award in 2008 from the Western Association of Chamber Executives (W.A.C.E.) and currently serves on the W.A.C.E. Board and the W.A.C.E. Foundation Board. She is an Accredited Chamber Executive (ACE) and a graduate of W.A.C.E. Academy.

Cindy has worked at the Chamber since 2003. Her job is to manage the day to day operations of the Chamber, which includes the updating of member information and maintaining databases.

Cindy greets members and tourists that call or visit the Chamber office and assists them with their needs, as well as manages correspondence between the Chamber and tourists or members. She also contacts and directs valuable volunteers that assist the Chamber at different events.

Born and raised on the Coastside and after graduating from Half Moon Bay High School, Amy attended San Diego State University where she earned her degree in Spanish.  Her studies launched her into a very colorful career;  ad sales for Univision, administrator for Juanita’ Foods, marketing for a Mexico City based property development company, three years as the Southern European supply chain manager based in the UK for Heinz Foods  and then a Spanish teacher for special needs children in England after completing her teaching credential in Northern England.

Amy  has spent the last 13 years not only raising three children but raising monies for several non-profits on the Coastside; Cabrillo Unified School District, Cabrillo Education Foundation, Coastside Hope and American Association of University Women to name a few!


Roy Truitt, Corporate Group Sales

Roy Truitt is an independent contractor who will be working with the Chamber over the next year to increase midweek business by attracting corporate meetings to the Coast.
Roy has over 30 years experience in senior-level sales and marketing director and general manager positions in the blue chip hotel arena. He began his career in sales and marketing with Marriott Hotels assisting in opening properties in New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Dallas. He combined his strategic planning business approach with market development. Roy later directed marketing and operation efforts as Western Region Brand Manager for Embassy Suites. His hotel general manager positions in Silicon Valley include the Hyatt Sainte Claire in San Jose and the Hilton Santa Clara. At both properties he had oversight of budgets, contracts, sales, staffing, customer satisfaction, public relations, marketing and advertising.
Involvement in the local community is very important to him and he has served on the boards of the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Mission City Community Fund, San Jose State University School of Hospitality, Santa Clara Rotary, and Teen Challenge NorCal/Nevada. He currently serves as a Civil Service Commissioner for the city of San Jose.

Dan Thompson, Social Media Manager

Joining the Chamber of Commerce in Febuary of 2016 as an intern and in May 2016 as an employee, Dan brings a life time of experience as a veteran and a prior business owner. While serving as an infantryman in the US Army, Dan earned numerous awards and promotions. As a small business owner, Dan learned the complexities and difficulties of operating a small business. His business earned the Mayors city wide Beautification Award for the most improved business property.

Dan earned an Associates degree (AA) in International Studies from Cabrillo College in 2013, and a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Recreation from San Jose State University in 2016. While at SJSU Dan focused his studies heavily on Tourism and more specifically, Ecotourism.


The Chamber also employs part time staff members that open the office to assist visitors on Saturdays and Sundays.
