The Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau Board of Directors is comprised of local business owners and managers.

The Board of Directors is the government and policy-making body of the Chamber. It authorizes the Chamber’s business plan, approves the budget, controls its property, receives and acts on committee and staff recommendations, and directs the general operations of the Chamber.

 

Kelly Hoffman-Davis, Chair

The GraphicWorks - term ends 2019

Kelly Hoffman-Davis is a lifetime Coastside resident. She graduated from Half Moon Bay High School in 2000. After her commencement from HMBHS, Kelly attended the California College of Arts.

In 2005 Kelly purchased The GraphicWorks from the original owners, and relocated the business to its current location at 1300 Main Street in Montara. Since the purchase, Kelly and her team have been advising, designing and producing promotional products and programs for organizations who understand that quality matters.

Under her leadership, The GraphicWorks was inducted into the Half Moon Bay Chamber Business Hall of Fame in 2009, for her role in the community, donating both her time and work to countless schools and non-profits. Kelly has also served two back-to-back terms as the Vice Chair of the Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce, in addition to her ten years as a Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce Board member. During her time on the Board, she also served as the Chair of the Rock the Block Committee (2008, 2009, 2010 and, 2012) a local festival celebrating Coastside living highlighting local businesses and non-profits. In 2006, she became chair of the Coastside Ambassador Committee and was a founding member of the Coastside Young Professionals Committee. In 2007 she was recognized for these efforts with the Bert Carli Volunteer of the Year award. In 2015 she was recognized again as a Half Moon Bay Coastside Lifetime Volunteer Award.

In addition her work in the community, Kelly also enjoys spending time volunteering for her children’s schools, Seacrest and Picasso Preschool. When she not working or volunteering, Kelly, her husband Troy, French Bulldog Dozer and two young sons, Tahlon and Brayden, can be found enjoying the fabulous restaurants, shops and beaches that the coast and nearby cities have to offer.


Peggy Milne, Vice Chair

Home Helpers In Home Care - term ends 2019

Peggy Milne grew up in Toronto, and has lived in Half Moon Bay for the past 20 years. She owns Home Helpers In Home Care with her husband Mitch Williams.

Peggy has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience. Her passion for helping other families deal with their aging loved ones comes from the example of her mother who cared for several older relatives as Peggy was growing up. Peggy is committed to helping people in Half Moon Bay and the Coastside community at large.  

 

 

 


Kevin O'Brien, CFO/Treasurer

Weller/O'Brien Insurance - term ends 2020

Kevin O’Brien is a partner in the Weller/O’Brien Insurance Agency, 720 Kelly Avenue in Half Moon Bay.  He has been in the insurance industry since 1975 as agent, sales and marketing vice president, and independent agency owner.

Kevin is a CIC, Certified Insurance Counselor, CLU, Chartered Life Underwriter, and ChFC, Chartered Financial Consultant. His agency emphasis is commercial and personal property casualty insurance. He is a past president and current member of the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay. He has been active in the community as a RotaCare Clinic volunteer and supporter of many Coastside non-profits.

Kevin is married to Debbie O’Brien, and they have three children and eight grandchildren. They have lived in Half Moon Bay since 1992. Kevin enjoys golf and traveling, and he’s a big fan of the San Francisco Giants.


Teresa Adam, Ex-officio

United American Bank - term ends 2018

Teresa Adam’s career in banking has spanned over 50 years. For the past 17 years, she has been a banker in our Half Moon Bay Community. She is the Vice President and Manager of United American Bank. As a local banker and homeowner, she always does her part to help local businesses grow. She does the majority of her personal shopping locally.

Teresa is the 2016 Chair of the Board for The Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce & Visitors’ Bureau. She is an active Rotarian. Through Rotary, she started a Mentoring Program at Pilarcitos High School called "Big Coyote Little Coyote". Teresa teaches Finance Seminars to our local High School Students.  She is a member of the Half Moon Bay Maverick’s Chapter of BNI. She attends Cabrillo Unified School District meetings and has served on committees to select scholarship recipients. Since September of 1999, she has served on a Selection Committee for San Mateo County Family Loan Services which provides auto loans for low income individuals. Teresa is the Past President of The Half Moon Bay Garden Club. She is currently the President of the Coastside Lutheran Church.


Ginger Minoletti, Director

Bay World Travel & Tours - term ends 2019

Ginger Child Minoletti began her travel career in 1987 and has been the owner of Bay World Travel since 1997.  The business has been a member of the Chamber for 19 years and Ginger has participated in Chamber activities during that time.  She is a member of the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay, Community United Methodist Church, and the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club.  Ginger and Bay World Travel have been strong supporters of the Boys and Girls Club, local sports teams, Coastal Rep Theatre, Senior Coastsiders and most every non-profit that asks for help.

In addition to her community activities, she serves as Treasurer of ASTA (the American Society of Travel Agents) and is President of the Board of WESTA (Western Association of Travel Agents).  She and her husband Paul have a grown son Chris, who has been working in the agency for the past two years.  He is in charge of business development and is assisting with marketing.   In a challenging business climate, she feels very grateful that she works and serves in a community that is so supportive of local business.


Brian Sheppard, Director

Sheppard Family Dentistry - term ends 2020

Dr. Brian Sheppard graduated from San Jose State University with his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He attended the University of the Pacific Dental School, graduating with his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2010. In July of 2011 he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency in Juneau, Alaska. In November of 2011 he started working with his parents at Sheppard Family Dentistry.  Dr. Sheppard swore in to the US Army Reserve in January 2014 and holds the rank of Captain.

Brian is an active volunteer in many communities.  He has volunteered at Military Stand Down events, Sonrisas Dental Clinic, and Samaritan House of which he was the 2012 Samaritan House Volunteer Dentist of the year. 


Dana Dahl, Director

Beach House Hotel - term ends 2018

Dana Dahl has lived on the California Coast her entire life and for the past 17 years, in Half Moon Bay. She is the General Manager of Beach House Hotel Half Moon Bay, where she has worked since prior to the hotel’s opening in 1996. During her entire working career, she has worked in the hospitality industry. At the Beach House, Dana is responsible for overall operations of the hotel, overseeing all the employees and the quality product and services of the Beach House, as well as providing personal and attentive customer service for its guests. She is a long time community supporter: she and her husband raised five children in the area, participating in many sports and educational events. It is hard to go anywhere in Half Moon Bay where Dana and her family are not know. She is a true local in the area and an expert as an insider on places of interest in the community.  In addition to her work within the hospitality industry in Half Moon Bay, Dana has also worked with San Mateo County Visitors & Convention Bureau for the past five years, promoting tourism and businesses the area of Half Moon Bay.

Heidi Kuiper, Director

State Farm Insurance - term ends 2019

Heidi Kuiper has worked for State Farm Insurance in different job capacities since 1975. She opened her State Farm Agency in Half Moon Bay in 2001. Heidi has served on the Ambassador Committee since 2002, was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2003, and was appointed to the Executive Board Committee in 2004. Heidi also chaired the Rock the Block community event for 3 years.


Kerry Lobel, Director

Puente de la Costa Sur - term ends 2018

Kerry Lobel serves as Puente’s Strategic Projects Advisor with a focus on major Pescadero infrastructure projects that including improving housing for farm workers, a child care center, a health center, and an office upgrade for Puente. Lobel served as Puente’s executive director from 2006-2015. She oversaw all programs, administrative, and fundraising functions under the supervision of the Board of Directors.  Lobel presided over an extraordinary period of growth for Puente, which has gone from 3 employees and an $185,127 budget in 2006 – the year Puente formally merged with North Street Community Resource Center – to a budget of $2.3 million with 27 full and part-time staff.

In 2010, Lobel was honored by the San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women for her exceptional achievements and significant impact on San Mateo County. In 2013, the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau honored her with a Citizen of the Year Award. The annual award is bestowed on a local hero whose work represents exemplary humanitarianism, and who has had a significant positive impact on the overall Coastside community.


Chris Mickelsen, Director

Political Consultant - term ends 2020

As a lifelong Half Moon Bay resident, Chris Mickelsen has been proud to serve his community since the early seventies. Over 35 years ago community activists recognized the historic value of Half Moon Bay’s downtown by organizing a “Paint In” which offered free paint jobs to our most treasured downtown buildings. Chris’s participation has lead to a lifelong passion for not only preserving the Coastside past but enhancing the Coast’s future.

Chris was thrice elected to serve as a director of Coastside County Water District, on which he still serves. In 2008 and again in 2009 his peers elected him to serve as President, a position which allowed him to continue the modernization of the district to better serve the community.

Chris was first elected to serve as a Chamber director in 2000. Since then the Chamber has grown from 400 to over 650 members. Chris looks forward to continuing his dedication to promoting our Coastal gem with those who choose to enjoy the multitude of unique visitor opportunities the Coast has to offer. Chis would further like to promote a sustainable local business environment to serve the needs of our diverse community.


Jeannene Minnix Kingston, Director


Allied Waste Services - term ends 2018

Jeannene Minnix Kingston began her career in customer service and community relations with the Daly City-Colma Chamber of Commerce. After 5 years as the Executive Assistant Jeannene was promoted to CEO and, as one of the youngest Chamber executives in the state, she managed economic development contracts with two city agencies, a 20-member board of directors, 500 business members, volunteers and employees; she implemented strategic planning meetings and facilitated programs and events to promote the business community.
 
Following her 8 years with the Chamber Jeannene worked for First National Bank of Northern California managing community and customer relations. After nearly 5 years with the bank a layoff provided Jeannene the opportunity to pursue a job in the green industry. Jeannene got her foot in the door at the South Bayside Waste Management Authority gaining knowledge of the waste industry with a special focus on recycling. 
 
In 2012 Jeannene landed her dream job when she joined Allied Waste Services as a Recycling Representative. In this capacity Jeannene is able to combine her two passions, the environment and community, through the promotion of Allied’s recycling programs; educating businesses, schools and residents on ways to reduce their environmental impact. She is affectionately known as “Green Jeannene”.
 
Jeannene lives in El Granada with her husband Bryan and their cat, Mango Minnix. When she is not wearing her Green Jeannene hat she is performing with a Middle Eastern-style dance troop in venues throughout the Bay Area.

Dianne Passen, Director

HMB Media - term ends 2020

Dianne Passen is a seasoned multi-media specialist with a particular focus in online video.  Her passion for discovering what motivates people started at her first management job during summers at Cedar Point in Ohio.
 

After graduating with a degree in marketing from Miami University, she discovered the Pacific Ocean and has been living and hiking the West Coast ever since.  For a gazillion years Dianne worked over the hill in a staffing company that leaped from start-up to national network in what seemed like days.  
 
As owner of HMB Media, she works with a wide network of talented audio and visual folks to create videos that help people strengthen relationships, organizations to communicate ideas and businesses to grow.

Dianne loves everything (almost) about the Half Moon Bay Coastal Community and believes that it is an honor and a privilege to serve on the Board of Directors for the Chamber.  

Nate Rey, Director

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company - term ends 2018

A California native, Nate Rey grew up in Half Moon Bay after moving there with his family in 1991. He attended the local public schools for the next eleven years and graduated from Half Moon Bay High in 2002. From a young age, Nate exhibited leadership skills and an entrepreneurial spirit: in elementary school, he organized local neighborhood children to provide gardening services, and later, in high school, he founded and operated a mobile disc jockey and production company.

In 2003, Nate began studying at San Jose State University where he earned a B.S. in business marketing. While attending college and running his production company, he got his first taste of the hospitality industry as a server at Mullins Bar and Grill in Half Moon Bay. Later, Nate worked at P.F. Chang’s, where he was exposed to every aspect of the restaurant industry – he began as a busser, gained experience as an expeditor, then became a server, a bartender, the trainer for new employees, and, ultimately, worked his way up to a management position.

Through these experiences, Nate discovered his passion for the hospitality industry and talent for managing and developing staff. In 2011, Nate left P.F. Chang’s after being recruited to join the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company as a Manager in his beloved hometown. Since then, he has implemented key initiatives: a new point of sale system, employee training program, customer service model and a farm-to-table concept. As a result of Nate’s leadership, sales and profits have increased substantially and in 2013, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer. In his spare time, Nate enjoys spending time with his fiancée, coaching wrestling at his former high school, playing golf, and sailing in the British Virgin Islands.
